Throughout my career as a school counselor and psychologist at Escondido High School, I have dedicated myself to supporting students and fostering healthy learning environments. It has been a privilege to witness firsthand the profound impact of these efforts on student achievement, mental well-being, and family engagement.
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Palomar Community College Board, representing Escondido and San Marcos. My goal is to leverage my extensive experience to benefit our community directly. I am committed to enhancing student outcomes, prioritizing mental health support, ensuring student affordability, and promoting a career-focused educational environment that prepares graduates for success in our local workforce.
Having worked with thousands of students, I have seen the transformative power of education and the importance of dedicated leadership in educational institutions. I am eager to bring this perspective to the Palomar Community College Board and work collaboratively to make meaningful improvements for our students and community.

Real Experience Putting Students First.
As a dedicated school counselor and psychologist at Escondido High School, Yvette collaborates daily with students, families, and educators to foster healthy school environments and achieve positive academic outcomes. She specializes in providing psychoeducational assessments and ensures students receive the essential support and counseling necessary for their happiness and educational success.
Yvette's role as a bilingual educator from an immigrant background is instrumental on campus. She actively bridges gaps by connecting Spanish-speaking families with vital community services, cultivating a culturally sensitive environment that strengthens relationships among students, families, and the school community.
Additionally, Yvette has served as a member of the Escondido Union High School District Leadership Team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration both on-site and with district administration.
Yvette holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CSU Los Angeles and has pursued advanced education, earned her Master's degree and is completing a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Alliant International University.

Yvette has dedicated her career to helping young people find success. Now, she is running for the Palomar Community College Board to continue her work, ensuring that students at Palomar are supported, academically successful, and well-prepared to secure good-paying local jobs upon graduation.

Yvette understands the essential role the college plays in providing affordable education for students looking to pursue higher education or advance their careers. She will ensure that this local institution remains accessible, reliable, and affordable for families in Escondido and San Marcos.
